 While traveling, I like to shoot different topics. those enormous locks from the river Saar or the river Neckar for example. It takes a while for a ship to cross them, so it gave me enough time to shoot a few pics.

 As I said in the previous post, you have to take 2 cable ways and  a rack-railway to get on top of the almost 3000mtr high mountain. It was a shame that there wasn't a clear view, that we couldn't see the valley beneath, but still, it was gorgeous.

In this post photo's from Lermoos - Austria. Lermoos is a gorgeous town in the mountains at a height of 1004 mtr.
The highlight of this journey was our trip to the Zugspitze, a 2950 mtr high mountain. You have to take 2 cableways and a special rack-railway.

But first a few photos of the landscape, during sunset or surnrise, with the low clouds hugging the mountains.

Last year we did a river cruise from Paris to Honfleur. We didn't know what to expect from the landscape along the river Seine, so it was a pleasant surprise to see how lovely it actually was.

First, a few photos from Paris by night, seen from the romantic Seine.


 

 

A favorite topic to photograph are sunsets and sunrises. Most of these photos are sunrises; one has to be an early bird then. It was still very quiet on the ship and no one was around on the upper deck, except hubby. It felt so good to be there right there and then : the peace and quiteness and the beautiful nature. Just loved it.

On this journey, one of the cities we visited was the metropolitan Frankfurt. It has a beautiful skyline but more skycrapers are being build and that's why there were so many tower cranes.



 
Although it's impressive  to see a major city with all its skycrapers, I prefer the smaller towns, like Cochem for example, with its magnificent castle, beautiful nature and the colorful houses.


 

A major tourist attraction are the many castles along banks of the Rhine and the Moselle.



 



The highest bridge on this journey is most certainly the Moselle Valley bridge.

 
The lowest bridge, is the one before entering Koblenz. The competence of the captain is needed, and certainly with this ship, and it's only a matter of inches! All goes really slow and members of the crew are helping the captain navigate his ship.


 

 

Once again, we sail by the Loreley.

A few months ago we went on another river cruise. This one took us along The Rhine, The Moselle and The Main. Some of the city's we've visited were Frankfurt, Koblenz, Cochem and Rudesheim.

I'll start this photo-report with a few images of our river cruise ship, The Gerard Schmitter from the Croisi Europe Cruise Company. The ship is 110 mtr x 11.4 mtr and can host 176 passengers.
